SUBJECT: D67 PTA: GMS Musical Registration is OPEN - Placements NEXT WEEK!

ABOUT ANNIE KIDS

Annie KIDS is a popular musical adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical and the  beloved book and score by Tony Award-winners. The story follows little orphan Annie in her  first adventure as she charms everyone with her pluck and positivity in 1930s New York City.  Annie sets out to find the parents who abandoned her years ago and eventually finds a new  home and family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a

lovable dog named Sandy. With plenty of parts to go around, including featured roles as well as  ensemble parts for orphans, servants, and tourists, Annie KIDS is ideal for productions involving  different grade levels.

MUSICAL PROGRAM (CAST) DETAILS

The program consists of three weekly rehearsals and culminates in two final performances for family, friends, and the local community.

STAGE SQUAD (CREW) DETAILS

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to perform in a show for GMS students (similar to past years)?

No. There will not be a Friday show for GMS students during the school day this year. GMS students will need to purchase a ticket and attend an evening show.

Are there cast roles in Annie Kids for all genders?

There are several wonderful roles for boys in this production including: Rooster Hannigan, Oliver Warbucks, Sandy (the dog can be played by any gender), Drake, Servants (can be played by any gender), Apple Seller (can be played by any gender), Lt. Ward, Bert Healy, Bundles, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Louis Howe.

What will placements (auditions) be like?

The placements will consist of three parts - acting, singing and dancing. On Monday, December 18th, the performers will learn a short section of one of the songs from the show and a simple dance routine for the same song for the dance portion of the placement. When we return on December 21st, we will review the song and dance and then perform the musical number in small groups, as the singing and dancing section of the audition. The acting portion will consist of reading selected scenes from the show in small groups as well. We encourage all performers to do their best but most importantly have fun during the audition process! We are firm believers in creating a sense of community and family with our cast and take pride in our performers working together and cheering each other on.
