Scholastic Book Fair Begins TODAY!

The Scholastic Book Fair at Hynes is back with hundreds of awesome book options that students get to choose from! Check out details below about the book fair schedule and when you and your student can shop!


Hynes - At School: Monday, October 16 - Thursday, October 19 

  • Students will have a scheduled time to preview the book fair and purchase with their class. 
  • There will also be various times throughout each day that teachers can send individual students down to purchase items from the fair.
  • There is no school on Friday, October 20 due to parent-teacher conferences but parents may purchase from the book fair during conference hours.

Students can purchase items two ways:

  1. Using their eWallet (details below)
  2. Using CASH that you send to school in a zip lock bag or envelope labeled with their name and grade.
  3. Students who earned a $10 gift certificate to the book fair during Raise Craze will be on a list and receive their $10 credit at check-out. 

During Hynes Parent Teacher Conferences: Thursday, October 19 - Friday, October 20

  • Hynes and GMS students and parents can shop the book fair Thursday, October 19 from 2:30 PM-8:00 PM and Friday, October 20 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Classroom book bins will also be available to purchase books for your student's class - a great thank you gift for a teacher!
  • PLEASE NOTE: Hynes Conferences are for parents/guardians only. Please do not bring children to conferences.

All book fair proceeds will directly benefit D67 PTA! Please reach out with any questions.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED to Staff the Book Fair THIS WEEK!

Volunteers are needed to help staff the book fair at Hynes next week! Volunteers will run the cash register (it's SUPER easy), help students choose books and re-stock items as needed.  Please volunteer if you can!

  • Short, 1-hour time slots!
  • Oct. 12 & 13 - Set-up volunteers needed!
  • Take-down options also available!
  • Oct. 16 - 20 - evening and daytime options!
  • See your kids at school!
  • Help make this fun event possible for our students!


Students will have the opportunity to view and shop the book fair during school hours Monday through Thursday and parents will have the opportunity to shop during parent/teacher conferences Thursday and Friday.  More details to come later this week! Stay tuned!

Crazy for Kindness was a HUGE Success!

Thank you for your support during our Hynes Elementary and Golf Middle School Raise Craze fundraiser. We hope you enjoyed being Crazy for Kindness and supporting students in fundraising and spreading kindness in our community. 

This was a team effort and we could not have been this successful without the support of our D67 staff, parents and students!


Crazy for Kindness Results

Total Acts of Service Completed – 2,091

Total Raised – $19,267

Net to Our School – $17,586


We are incredibly proud of our Cardinal Community and the amazing ways everyone shared kindness. Here are just a few of the ways we brightened people's days:

  • Collected donations for local families in need
  • Left kind notes for fellow students and made kindness posters for the school
  • Wrote thank you notes firefighters, police officers and members of the military
  • Held a volunteer service night to pack donations and make kindness cards
  • Left water & snacks by the front door for delivery drivers
  • Picked up litter in our community
  • And SO MUCH more!

The donations we received will help fund ALL the programs for students and staff throughout the year, including student assemblies, kids night out and Cardinals Care, a program that funds sports, club and field trip fees for students in need. 

THANK YOU again for all your support of our students, our schools, and our community!

🎭 HYNES Drama Club Sign-up is OPEN for Grades 3 & 4! 🎭

This club is facilitated by the PTA and run by Teacher Amanda at Top Note Performing Arts. Teacher Amanda has been teaching theater and music to children for almost a decade and is very excited to return to Hynes. This program will give students the tools to express themselves, tell stories, build confidence, nurture leadership, and develop crucial team building skills - all while playing super fun games and exploring their imaginations!   • MONDAYS, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

  • Begins Nov. 6th, and ends mid-May

  • There is NO after-club bus service on Mondays. Parents must provide their own transportation from school at 4:00 p.m., or students may go to the Morton Grove Park District after care in the gym (students must be signed up for after care through the park district).

  • $125.00 for the school year
